One of my Australorps gave me a HEART ATTACK today.

OK! STORY TIME! So, I have about 6-9 bird that's are early layers and are done by 9 am, then we have the jerks that will lay alllll the way til SIX PM. So, today, I went up to collect the eggs around 4:40 (gotta love DLS and extra day light) and I go left tho right, and I get to the last box to find the darkest of my 4 girls, sitting. Head down, slightly tilted, eyes wide open, ZERO movement, not blinking, no head movements, NOT BREATHING. Yeah, my reaction was *heart stop, start crying a little, full on bawling* ZERO movement from my girl, I touch her and nothing. SO, I grab her, and she does her low grumbly scratch squaw-w-wk, scares the crap out of me, and I'm momentarily relieved, before I get pissed and contemplating dispatcher her and FRYING HER on principle. Her new name? ASSHOLE!!

Thanks! Me too! Unfortunately we did just lose our first chicken today and she's been with us since day one she was very the very first ones that we got she was only a year old.
