One of my ex bats has gone broody! PICS ADDED!!!

She's sitting in the coop in one of the nesting boxes at the mo , I can move her to a broody coop, that'll give city boy something to do when he gets home!!!
Question is, I've got some eggs in the incy that went in on the 11/07/09 could I put these under her or is it not worth the risk and just let them continue in the incy. She can have some of ours to hatch if necessary.
And how many can they sit on at one time?

You are usually safe with 6 to 8 in a clutch.

Personally, I'd keep them in the bator perhaps until day 18 and try and make the move OR let them hatch and try and put them under her as day olds and see if she takes them.

Ok, can you tell me what a battery chicken is? I have seen the phrase many times in the UK Poultry mag, which I love, but never knew what it referred to.

I am guessing, maybe it is what we would call probably a factory chicken, a chicken from a huge outfit that has bazillions of chickens for eggs, but I am not sure.

Look what Baldilocks did!!!

She has hatched 5 alotogether then left 4 in the nest while tending to her brood so I took them out and candled them. One was empty but the other 3 looked good so I popped them in the incy and lo and behold another one has hatched, fingers crossed for the other 2!!!

And this is what she looked like when she first came to us, bless her!

Oh my goodness, poor Baldilocks! She looked terrible. You have really blessed her life tremendously. How fun that she's now got a batch of babies to tend! YAY for Baldilocks!

Just put the one that hatched in the incy (Snowy cos she's white!) with Baldi and the other chicks outside and they're all getting on fine, will post some more pics when I get time!
