The position you found her in - on her back - makes me think of flip-over disease, but I don't know if that condition only occurs in broilers, due to their fast growth rate. I believe I have seen this term also used in connection with sudden death in chickens in general due to heart attack. Edited to say: I forgot to say I'm sorry that you lost your hen this way. I lost one suddenly about a year ago and it's hard not knowing why she passed away and if there is a danger to the rest of your flock.
