My bad! All this time, I thought my chickens were over 5 months old! Now, after checking our bank statements, Hubby and I discovered 7 of the 11 chickens we bought, we bought back in March! (Not January, like we falsely remembered). So, that puts my birds alittle over FOUR months of age! And the younger ones two weeks younger than that! All this time, I've been worried to death that something was wrong with my hens, because they were not laying!

Well, guess what, I found my first egg this morning! It was puny, but well shaped, with a good hard shell. Cracked it open, and found a nice deep yellow/orange yolk. Fried up the tiny egg, in a tiny frying pan. I would show pics... but my son wandered into the kitchen, and ate the egg, before I could grab the camera! LOL! He commented it tasted very good!

I'm so happy I finally got an egg! And yes! I've seen the chicken squat! I even gave a few "back rubs", and got them to do it. I'm hoping egg production will now step up a notch. Without all the information from all of you in the forums, I'm telling you, I'd be lost! Gotta say thanks to Backyard Chickens.

LUCKY! I waited NINE months for my egg. I guess she sensed I was unhappy with her free loadedness and I've gotten an egg a day ever since. 5 pretty little eggs in the fridge

To be so small, she has a decent sized egg (oegb) Not big, but I was expecting penny sized lol

So so sorry it took me soooo long to get back with you. I apologize greatly for this.. I'm horrible at posting! And I never expect responses to any of my posts.. But, I should know better, I suppose. But as for breeds, I have 2 SLWs, 3 BOs, (which were the first to lay, and are very consistent layers, might I add!) I also have 2 possible RIR, or Production OR Red Sex Link? I also have 1 white hen.. Could be anything, as far as I'm concerned, but she lays the biggest eggs out of the bunch. All my eggs are a light to medium brown.. Some have a slightly "blue" tinge to them, and I attribute that to the 1 EE Roo that maintains the flock. I now get 6 to 8 eggs per day, and my white hen, (whom my daughter's friends have named, Maxwell (

), is the one who lays the biggest eggs.. They are usually double yolkers. Might I add, this is the chicken that went to a party, where she was treated to sitting on a "beer pong table". I guess she had a good time? lol. Anyway, she's no worse for wear, from attending, and that's what was most important to me.

My SLW's were my first to lay too. Then my Sexlinks. One of my bantams laid a teeny tiny egg, but I am not sure which girl did it since I have 15+ bantams!!!!!
