One of my little Buttons died :(

Looks like they don't have one in Canada. Are there any feed stores that will order things for you?

I feed mine ground cat biscuits mixed with duck starter it works really well

Cat food is actually really bad for quail. If you feed it daily it can kill them. Too salty, fatty, and has no nutritional value for them.

I was told to use that

Luckily I've found a gamebird starter supplier its so hard to get food for them yet they are quite common such a pain

You do realize that the OP is in Canada? She (I hope) might not have Manna Pro available, I know I can't get it here and I'm in KY!!

Are you able to get Purina feeds? They make one called Flock Raiser that is 20% protein and should be non-medicated. I don't think the medicated feed is good for them. It doesn't matter what it's medicated with, it's just that they are too small for the way it's mixed and it builds up in their systems.

If you can't get Purina feeds, get a chicken grower or layer feed. You can always feed meal worms or boiled eggs to increase their protein intake.

If she has a TSC she should be able o get it. It is all regional, one person may have it the next may not. There has to be some type of suitable feed there even if she has to order it. I wouldn't put them on Flock raiser, but that's just me.

Yep, that is just you. I fed all my birds flock raiser, even 'raised' chukar, bobwhites, pheasants, turkeys, coturnix, buttons, ducks, geese, and chickens on it from hatch and never had any problems with it. The only problem I had is that it's now about $15 for 50# and I can get a 20% starter feed from a different store that doesn't have the 'Purina' name on it for about $10 for 50#.

I would say NO because duck/goose food should have high levels of niacin, which I believe is TOXIC to most birds. Get a chick starter or grower feed and supplement with boiled eggs or mealworms. I wouldn't use cat food as a supplement because you open a whole new string of 'bads' with that.

With 20% protein it is lacking a bit. Plus when I was on it egg production dropped. I love the KTA I am using now.
