One of my quail roos was dead this morning..

I only had 3 quail..2 roos and 1 hen. They were just 5 weeks on Wed. so I hadn't seperated the roos yet.

The dead one looked like he had some blood on his neck so my guess is that the other roo killed him. Is the hen safe or should I seperate them until I have a more hens?

I do not know about quail, but with poultry, its fight to death to have the strongest genetics passed on. So now you know which roo was the strongest link and which one was the weakest.

The hen should be fine, birds do this for mating rights, that is why we often do not have 2 roos together. In chicks it can begin right off at day 1 or 2! I have 2 chicks sparring, usually its just roos.
(Unfortunately its a live and learn world)
Try not to be angry at the survivor, it is natural.

Now I know to seperate earlier!
