Im still new with chickens and this is my 2nd hatch. I've had about 10 hatch already within the las 2 days. Today one zipped about half way or more and it looks like the thin see through membrane is still on a little and there is a yellowish thick ooze coming out on one side. Does anybody know what this is? Im sure its not normal is it? Whats the chances for this little one? Thanks

what i would do is rip the membrane open (QUICKLY) to get to its beak. Once you can see its beak, and its breathing, leave it alone.

Others may not suggest that, but i've NEVER had a baby die from this.

It already has its beak sticking out. I did take it out of the bator and took a better look at it. It don't look so good. I feel so bad. It's been like this since about 9 am. It's not even trying to get out or anything.

well the yellowish ooze could be the yolk that hasnt been fully absorbed yet. Best to leave it be and keep and eye on it to make sure its still breathing.

Poor things barely moving. She wiggled her way out of the shell and I didn't see any yolk. She was still attached by a tiny string though and she started bleeding quite a bit, I think for such a tiny thing. I doubt she will make it, but I am keeping my fingers crossed
