A much less traumatic way of putting her down is with the baking soda and vinegar method. Put her in a container with an airtight lid and mix baking soda and vinegar and put it in with her. Make sure it does not bubble over and get on her. She will die in a short while depending on how large the container is. I have had to do this a few times and they don't seem to suffer.

Or you could leave it alone and see what happens. Sometimes things look worse than they are.

Thats really interesting...i'm gonna look into that. I do quite a bit of hunting/fishing...so i'm always chopping something up, I realise the guilotine isnt to everyones taste.

thank you for all of your advice. i think we are going to use the baking soda/vinegar method today. he is miserable and i can't stand to see him suffer like that. the only time he is happy is when we hold him.

I am sorry, it is not an easy decision to make. It is better than it suffering for days/weeks until it would fail to survive.
I've seen many animals who's owners have waited too long to do them the greatest kindness.
