Hello all! I'm new to the backyard chicken community, and took the word of the man at the grain store that all the comets I was purchasing were girls. They were about 4 weeks when we got them, and now about 3 weeks later, this one looks very different. Much larger, much more white on it, and even a little tuft of tail feathers. Am I just being paranoid, or is there a rooster in the hen (and goat) house?

Thanks!!

The sex links take the red differently. They show white in different amounts too.

The males are almost 100% cream/white. The red/brown they show is not on the neck, but on the "saddle" and on the wings. Relax.
Now, if that bird also has huge red wattles and bright red comb? Then, yeeeeeuup. You need to worry. Cockerels show their combs and wattle very, very early. The pullets wait until week 14 or so, just before they start getting ready to lay.

Well unfortunately red sex link boys are mostly white compared to the girls. Can you get better pictures of the suspicious one, showing the head especially? Maybe you got lucky and they snuck something like an EE in.

Thank you for such a quick response! Quite a relief, not sure I'm ready for roosters just yet. But it would have been a great looking boy if he was!
