Aww ... thanks for the well-wishes! I can't get over how nervous I am with this hatch! I'm trying soooo hard to do the "right thing" and leave the top on the incubator and just leave that lil baby in there. I should go check out the guinea fowl webpage and see if I can pinpoint what color guinea I've got. That ought to waste about, oh, three minutes or so.

Good morning, all! I did manage to get some sleep last night ... thankfully. Especially since I just woke up ANDDDD ... no more hatches. Boo! Hiss! Well at least I know now that I've got a little pearl guinea so far. I can't wait to put him/her in the brooder!

The assortment of eggs I got could be pearl, white, or powder blue. I'm hoping for one of each but at this point I'd just be happy to see another pip! LOL I'll continue to keep you posted. It's been 14 hours since chick #1 hatched. The suspense is frightening!

Numbers one and two are in the brooder! 8 hours after the first pip in egg two, I gave him/her some assistance getting out. The membrane was really starting to dry out and I was getting worried. He/she never zipped ... just kept poking at that same hole. It came strange out of the egg once I unzipped for it. It was back-up. butt at the "air sac" end of the egg? I'm not sure if that's right since the first egg hatched when I was at Lowe's but the second keet just seemed to be coming out of the egg very unnaturally. After the usual "where the heck am I" moment, he/she started getting perky. Now the two are in the brooder all snuggled up.

I just candled egg three and I'm not sure what's going on with it. I'm here to see if I can find a candling pic of what should be day 26. I'll keep you all posted though! Two pearl guineas so far! Yeah!
