I have one female of 6 that has been really over aggressive for a couple of week now. She hasn't always been this way but anytime I go to gather eggs, feed them, water them, or change the sand she comes running from the other side of the cage to bite me. What is going on?

Well the Coturnix is short for Japanese Quail...there are other coturnix out there but the ones we raise for eggs and meat are the Japs...I bet she is getting broody or something is bugging her. I have had mean hens but after sticking them with a bunch of males they usually calm down.

I've got a tuxedo coturnix that has been doing this ever since she matured, even over winter, I actually quite like it! most of my quail aren't very handleable and difficult to catch in their outdoor run but she just comes right on over, I don't see it as an issue unless she carries it over to the other quail and injures anyone, so far she hasn't she just doesn't like me

I guess they have to have a certain amount of confidence to be like that and she never really hurts me If I was you I would just ignore it, it's unlikely she will become broody but you can try I guess, I have had a coturnix quail hatch and raise chicks once before although this is uncommon though she was never aggressive beforehand.

I have a few hens like this. don't really know what causes it.. Maybe they are the boss hens in the pen. I have noticed that they will do it if they turn their water over and been without for a few hours, but the kids love it!!
