Ok So as I posted in before on another topic, We had two eggs in the nesting boxes, but here is the deal they were really clean, like almost to clean for just being laid. SO i am wondering if that is a normal thing that they are really clean. so here is my question when the hen lays the eggs are they clean or do they have have stuff on them. I know that this is an odd question but I am just wondering because the chickens are only about 15 or 16 weeks old and the eggs should be small right?? if they are then I know that someone wanted to be funny and put larger eggs in the laying boxes. I hope you can help

As long as they don't sleep and poop in the nest boxes the eggs should be clean. Usually the eggs are smaller when they first start laying but you may get some double yokers too. Usually not long after they start laying you may get some rather large eggs that are double yokers but after they have been laying awhile the doubles slack off.

I just came in from collecting eggs. I got 7 absolutely clean eggs from one box and a slightly dirty one from another. Sometimes the hen poops as she's getting out of the box.
Really clean eggs is what your aiming for.
