We unfortunately lost a Silkie today to a hawk. My husband brought it inside and tried to give it cpr and oxygen, but it didnt work.
Do you guys know the best way to try and save a chicken with cpr or anyother tricks? I would love to know for future reference.

:hugssorry to hear of your loss.:(
Only thing you can do ,,,,, is try to predator proof the area where your chickens are, when outdoor. (generally referred to as RUN)
I know that Sikies are referred to as Hawk Magnets. They are not able to run for cover, fast enough, as well as see predator approaching. Hawks are smart, and they eye their potential prey well, to be as successful as possible. They pick out a weak one if possible. Realities of predator and prey.:idunno
I also don't thing CPR is a viable saving method for chickens. If a chicken is attacked, and injured,,, then bandaging and treating wounds can save the chicken. Chicken needs to be alert for the most part.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :welcome

Thank you for the information! We have a run attached to their coop, but we let them out sometimes to roam free in the yard.
The odd thing is there wasnt any blood really
So i amnwonderingnof the hawk broke its neck.

Because of differences in anatomy CPR won’t work on birds. I strung a few lines over my main free range area and attached a few shiny old CDs for reflection. I’ve never had a problem with aerial predators before but this is my first year with silkies and Polish so BYCers here inspired me to do that.

I am so sorry! :hugs
A hawk's first dive, well aimed, will disable or kill a chicken. If given just a few extra minutes to consume their prize, you may only find a head and a small pile of feathers. They are VERY efficient at what they do! Your best protection from them is a covered run, especially for Silkies, who are slow runners and can't see well because of their poofy crests.

I have never thought to do that. Thank you!

We built the a pretty good sized run, so they may just have to stay in there during the winter lol. During the summer we have so many trees with leaves i feel that's why we never had issues then.
This is our first winter with them so lesson learned I guess.
