I bought an incubator (miller brand) and then realized that I would be needing an egg turner. I've looked a bit on line and I can't seem to find one that is for miller incubators and the others I've seen say "for use with _______ brand only". Suggestions? Looking for the most cost effective option as well so if there's an easy way to make one that's an option too. Thanks!!

If I'm not mistaken, Miller made/makes Little Giant. If that is still the case, look for a turner for a Little Giant. Just about any of them will do provided that they'll fit inside the incubator and not come into contact with the other components of the incubator: i.e. thermostat, heating element or fan.

You didn't indicate in your post if this was a table top or cabinet style incubator. That might have a bit of bearing on it as well. Table top models are usually such that a turner can be added very easily with the cord running out the back between the lid and the base. Cabinet models might be a bit different and you may have to do some drilling to accommodate the cord.

As for doing things on the cheap....you could always turn them by hand 3 times a day!

Thanks. I'll have to check out the little giant turners. It's a table-top model. I had initially planned on turning by hand but I'm incubating in a classroom and won't be able to go in on the weekends.

Aaah, I see. Then I have another question for you. How long is your commute from home to classroom each day? If you're within a half hour or less, might I suggest that you take the incubator home with you on weekends. Without anyone there to monitor it, you could have a temperature spike and nobody around to do anything about it until it is far too late.

If you do take it home for the weekends, might I also suggest that you wrap the incubator really well with a number of towels to help keep it warm from the front door of the building to your vehicle. Might be beneficial to have the car all warmed up if it's cold outside as well. Just some things to consider.

It's about a 25 minute drive. It's ok to drive the incubator back & forth & have it unplugged for the car ride?
