My son and I are getting down to finalizing the inside of our coop. We are using a preexisting shed that we had to shore up and re-roof. It has one small window that does not open. I'm thinking of hanging mirrors inside the coop to help brighten it up during the winter. Am I crazy or genius?
...sign me, pressed for time-I can't frame in a new window until spring

Mirrors may only slightly add to the amount of light inside. Experiment and see. The small window is what restricts the amount.. In my opinion, painting the inside of the coop white would do more good to provide light. Also not sure if you have sufficient ventilation. If the gap at the roof and walls are open, ( soffit ) then it should be OK. All depends on the number of chickens you will be housing.

Wishing you best

Thank you. We had toyed with the idea of painting the inside. I think you just helped solid that we should. There is ventilation at the soffit and we are incorporating a 'people door' at the entrance. The sliding door will remain but we will frame and predator proof a door with ventilation as well. That window faces north and I am considering adding more ventilation as we move forward. The good news is we had drenching rain last night and it stayed dry inside. We currently have 24 in our flock that will stay here. There are also two turkeys that will reside in separate quarters.
