Hmm I guess I don't have a picture of her lately but here's a scary picture of her a few months ago to add nice dramatic affect

Well, It could be hormones.

But if she's five and this is the first time, I would think something else is making her crabby. Cats walking on her cage (chickens?) Predators, etc.

Unless she has been exposed to a buck lately, then she may be pregnant... Do you have a buck too?

Can you get her out (Wear Gloves!!!!) and check her over? Check her feet, her teeth (be careful!) check her poo (I know) to be sure its not runny, or has too much hair in it.

Just keep giving her treats, and hopefully she'll get over her snit soon!

Maybe she's not feeling well? I don't know much about bunnies, but when one of our old family dogs suddenly turned crabby it was due to arthritis and pain. Taking him to the vet and getting some meds had him back to his normal self in no time.

Have you taken her to the vet? Perhaps it's something simple like a UTI. Also, check with the house rabbit society. They may have some ideas.

is she spayed?

if not ot could be a false pregnancy, it happens to doe all the time.
especially if they have never breed bred.
give it about 30 days and she should straighten out.

nothing worse than going through a pregnancy with no results.

rabbits do not go into heat like dogs and cats , they are induced ovulators, meaning the buck stimulates them to ovulate.
at 5 years old I would neither breed her nor alter her, her age is against her.

I;m with the false preganancy idea. I also remember they used to box at you with their front feet when that was going on in addition to being mean.

The false pregnancy thing sounds like the problem but we're taking her to the vet anyways next Wensday. She seems perfectly heathly.
