We currently have 10 ducks. Of the 10, 3 are muscovy ducks. 2 females and 1 male. Each morning they are let out, the 3 immediately fly out of their pen and we have to herd them back in. Well today our older female found the one place we cant get her... the roof of our 2 story house!

Wait till she starts laying eggs and nesting up there! :gig
Seriously debating on clipping her wings lol I know she will just grow them back but we also can't risk the ducks getting off our property. Its a $50 fine for each animal out of your property and we would rather use that money for feed and more animals lol

Very understandable. :) Forgot to :welcome There is a lot of great members and info on clipping ONE WING only if that is what you decide to do? Charts available also on what not to clip.

We have two small Mallard hens in our flock and decided not to clip. Yes they have no problems flying, I just like to think they are very happy and choose not to leave their flock of larger Pekin/Rouens who can't fly.

Best of Luck and please keep us posted. :)

She looks proud of herself up there. Lol.

I've trimmed many birds flight feathers, it is very easy after you learn how. If I had flying ducks I would do it. Though I believe most members here choose not to, or at least I haven't read about much.

Mine does the same! She goes up there in the summer to get treats from us... we may have encouraged the behavior but she’s happy lol

Our just started doing it randomly. Today she did it twice! Once right after she was let out and then I caught her when I got home from the store lol she's very proud of herself. The other female tries to do it but can barely fly above the first floor windows. As for the male.... hes lucky to get off the ground lol
