One week older

Anyone care to hazard another guess about my suspicious BR? S/he is now about 4wks old. The smaller BR in the first pic is about 3wks.

It has the dark coloring of a pullet, I say girl.

I would say girl, but are the legs dark? I can't really tell. Don't Barred Rocks have yellow legs? I don't know???

That one does have dark legs pretty much all over. The smaller one has a dark wash just down the front and yellow everywhere else.

Looks just like my pullets. My cockerel is much lighter silver and the bars are wider. His tail is only half that long and he is 5 weeks old.

Kind of young still... but at 4 weeks old, that pink/redish wattle on the last pic has be worried.

Got 2 barred rocks who are 4 wks old today, and one is DEFINITELY a roo. Yours looks more like the little pullet. *BTW, the 2 BRs and 6 BOs were supposed to be pullets, I ended up with a BR cockerel AND a BO cockerel* The pullets were supposed to be a harem for my RIR roo and the SLW roo so they could each have a small harem and not compete with each other. Now I have two MORE roos? I'll be standing out in the pen sounding like Rodney King, saying "can't we all just get along?"....

Its looks to be a pullet, but with those dark legs I am questioning its parentage. BR are supposed to have yellow shanks and can have a dark wash down the fronts, but black/slate legs are not a breed characteristic of BR.
