Is it normal for hens to spit up a bit? I watched one drinking water, minutes later while foraging, she spit up a stream of clear liquid then went about her business pecking. I've never noticed it before.

They can do that since there is not a sphincter that keeps them from regurgitating crop contents. When their heads are down the water can come out, but I would check her crop to make sure there isn't a problem such as sour crop or impacted crop. If it feels squishy like a balloon, and them again in the morning before she eats, still feels that way, she may have sour crop. In early morning the crop should be mostly empty before they eat, and it will gradually fill up during the day.

I was going to ask the same thing. I noticed it twice. They don't seem to be borhered by it and they eat and do chicken things as usual.
