Onions???

I feed crushed egg shells all the time and there's no problems. So long as it doesn't look like an egg I think you're fine.

If you are feeding layer feed, they shouldn't really need a calcium supplement.
Quote: I just noticed this post. Do they have access to a balanced, complete feed? Or are you just giving them a bunch of fruits, veggies, and corn and hoping that it's good enough?
In order to have healthy birds, that produce well, you need to feed them properly. That means a balanced feed, formulated for chickens. It doesn't have to be Purina, but it does need be specifically for chickens.

Thanks for the replies! But do you think if I give them dried/ crushed egg shells they will start eating their own eggs?

They won't eat their own eggs if u dry them out and crush them into small pieces. I do it al the time and my chickens aren't egg eaters.

Hope this helps solve another question!
