Mac, thanks for posting Herrick's blog! That is awesome! I'm going to print and laminate this to take outside with me while I learn this process. I'm sure after you do it a couple of times that it becomes habit, but at first, it's a slow, step-by-step deal.

The only difference in my plan is that I don't want to mess with scalding and plucking, so I plan to skin my birds. But I think most of his plan will transfer nicely.

I did buy his book with the plans to make the plucker, but I just haven't jumped over that ravine yet. Let's see how my first birds look once I'm through with them. If they look hideous, I'll eat them myself and tell my friends they'll have to wait for the next batch come spring.
