Soulsong, it would help if you had pure eggs to offer. Even though your individual birds are pure, when you cross the varieties of those breeds you will, in fact, have crossed offspring.

Soulsong's Silkies are pure, but it sounds like the other offer is a combination of pure Cochin and mixed bantam breeds. If soulsong can differentiate his pure Cochin eggs from his bantam mixes, then maybe he (not sure if soulsong is a he or she:) ) can just throw in the mix bantam eggs as extras?

Maybe silkies are different

like serama but, if I had a white cochin roo and a red cochin roo and bred them to black and partridge hens, I would get mixes

and a buff cochin roo over white cochin hens will give you mixes ...and bantam mixes are... mixes

I agree...but they're mixed color, not mixed breed. They're still pure Silkie and pure Cochin....just not standard colors. I need to go re-read the rules I guess.

I thought we could offer non-standard colors so long as the birds themselves are a pure breed.

As far as the Silkies go . . . sometimes you have to cross colors to get what you want. I cross my white silkie roo over black silkie hens and get great looking blues. I don't know about crossing the other colors.

With cochins, the white is recessive so... any genes could be lurking there. When that white breeds to a buff, you will get a mixed mutt cochin... may be pretty but, I definitely would not consider it "pure"

And the silkies, maybe you have a chance at blue with the white roo and the black hen but, everything else in there is a no no... so, again, I would not consider that bunch as being "pure" unless you had a pen of white hens and 1 black roo and were going for blues.

My understanding based on these rules was mixed colors where fine so long as it was noted in the offer. I can do my best to pull all the banty hens eggs - some are similar in size to the cochins but I can and will add plenty of extras.
Therer was no problem with my previous offer ...if this offer does not follow the rules as I interpret them then have the moderator ILOVEFRIZZLES PM me and I will pull my offer.
