Although it is a swap the eggs we get and receive are in my opinion showing off what we have. With good work of mouth brings good sales. Sending out some freebies could result in more sales. Also getting different stock could help improve our current stock or just get some rare breeds or colors. I spend most of my time at BYC here in this swap. I just love this site.

AHHHH yes the shipping delima. I do what you are suggesting, ship like people ship to me. Then you figure out what works, or what you can afford/handle and make your own style. Personally I take an egg carton (or one cut in half) and then line it with bubble wrap and put eggs in and cover with more bubble wrap and tape the carton closed. I put this inside of a priority box surrounded with crinkled newspaper, packing peanuts, plastic bags, or whatever you decide to use. I pack it pretty solidly. Then tape shut and print the label online and stick it in my mailbox for pickup. I have never had a report of any of my eggs arriving broken. I have had people that ship them wrapped individually in bubble wrap and nestled in a box of packing break because they knock together. Hope this helps a little. You will find your packing/shipping niche.

if anything send a 'test' run to a couple of people you know, package 1 style and the a 2nd style and see what their feed back to you is on how they arrived, and of course make sure they have room in the bator for 3-6 eggs to see how the ride fared for them. Before you start really swapping your eggs. That way you build up your confidence. Trust me I was terrified at shipping eggs. I am still learning which way works best and who's PO has Giant Gorillas working at it so I know to double package those for a 'roughter' ride...

Don't just use newpaper. It is actually pretty hard and does not offer any cusioning. Also use a large box. The smaller boxes do not offer enough room for all the packing materials you need to use. I make a nest with plastic bags and use bubble wrap to wrap each egg and on the top and bottom and both sides for cusion. I put more plastic bags on top and I make sure when i close the box I don't hear anything jiggling around.
