Because the chain stalls. People like fancy breeds they don't already own,or can't get locally. Those silver leghorns sound pretty ...

I don't know that "functional" or "fancy" really apply. From what I've seen, it's more about birds that you can't just go get at TSC during chick days. The birds that are a little less common. Sussex are very functional, but also not readily available at the local feed store (at least not where I live).
I also think it's a huge help if people add pics of the birds their offering eggs for.
Just my 2 cents.

Well, you could go on the designer egg chain
They take mixes like OE's and have some other interesting stuff. Actually, you can offer any purebred chicken hatching eggs on here, or even duck, guineas or whatever fowl just not mixed breed chickens. But the rare breeds get snapped up fast. Deb

Oh! I feel real stupid now! I just realize that you meant Olive Egger when you put OE. I was thinking Old English! Silly me!

I'll take your 6+ black/blue swedish ducks and offer. 6+ mixed color silkie eggs. b/b/s, partridge, and white. There are 2 splash or lavender split hens in the white pen and 2 white hens and a white roo.

Their color is actualy a lavender with darker spots. My camera isn't very good

@ MomMommyMamma: I see what you mean. My Andalusians are still very functional. They lay good and are great foragers. Alot like Leghorns. Ok. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

I see where this chain probably isn't going to work for me anymore. It is getting to the point if it isn't a more RARE bird people don't want them. I was asked to offer something different after my post was on the thread for 12 hrs at NIGHT.....most people were sleeping and didn't even have time to come here and look.

Sorry all for my comments.....

current offer....from emvickrey 6+ silkies
