Oh no! Poor baby! We once lost several of our nannies to Star Gazing...it was awful!!Me too, more user friendly. I was up late last night trying to treat one of the goats for bloat. I am sure my husband thinks i am nuts sitting up with a baby goat on the sofa (wrapped up in a towel) to keep it in the right position for gas to escapeSo i was tired today, shipped eggs and took a nap this afternoon. It has been snowing most of the day, but just started to stick. Come on, spring!![]()
Fingers crossed for the little darling and her brother. Aww, poor kitty. That is so sad!Her diarrhea cleared up, her belly does not feel as tight so I am hopeful. Now her brother has loose stool, and the weather stinks. Tomorrow I am taking my cat to the vet. I think she has diabetes now, she drinks a lot and pees tons. She has problems with mast cells and i am afraid her pancreas is invovled now. I may end up putting her down. She is 13 years old and getting very skinny.I have not had any stargazing problems since I made sure the goats get hay every day. I know it is very disturbing and they go down fast.![]()
Well the cat has a reprieve, the vet did blood work and her numbers were abnormal but not too bad, so now she is on a new diet. I was so happy i didn't have to put her down. After all, my Pyrenees got run over, and died, then one of the adult goats died, and now my favorite little white and brown speckled doeling died from the bloat last night. My heart is bleeding. Makes me want to sell all the goats so i don't have to deal with it. Usually they are so healthy and happy, but they go down so fast if they get sick. So I will be making a pyre today. At least it is sunny and stopped snowing.
Hey Coach, Almost had a disaster tonight. Between the smoke from the wood stove and the funeral pyre, I didn't notice the smell of smoke from the goat barn.... but Bella, my original bottle baby from years back, was yelling at me so I thought I had better check it out. I have one heat lamp inside a box i built, and it was shut with bailing twine wrapped around it. Somehow those goats got it open and pulled the heat lamp out and threw it on the floor in the hay! It was smoldering, so I threw buckets of water on the hay once I pulled the lamp out. I sure hope things get better, can't take much more of this.
