Sounds like you have baby goats everywhere. I'm glad you sold your buck. They can be a pain tn the butt. The rest of my does are due in April [ i hope] I took my sow to the new owners today and they built a nice hog house for her and some of their friends came over and everybody took pics with their cell phones. She got a good home and they where thrilled to get her. I wish that i didn't get so attached to them. She was a huge pet and if you rubbed her belly she would flop over like a dog.

Coach-- I have not been able to have pigs since I was a kid; I loved them: Big Pig, Francis Bacon, etc. 5 piglets destined forthe freezer but I taught them to sit in a semi circle and wait for a treat. Way to smart and way too fun. I almost had a melt down when it was freezer time. I can't bring myself to get pigs again fearing I will turn them into big pets. Incredible animals. Glad you found her a special home.

Hot2 pot-- Hurray! you found a good home for the PITA. Already a relief he is gone, I bet. ANd miss him at the same time. I still have several ewes to lamb; one ewe I can't see how her udder could get any bigger. Every time I do a barn check, I expect to see that her lambs have arrived. None yet. Little one is still in need of some care. Can nurse some but still not 100%. I milk her and offer a bottle every 4-6 hours. Running thru sheep grain very fast. The girls are eating almost 4# a day.

Ran into a friend tonight at the grocery store. People are complaining to her that they miss seeing sheep in her fields. In years past, we have talked about my girls going over to mow for the summer. She brought that up again. Free feed is very tempting.

Worked on breeding pens again today. SLow going. Rebuilt one of the bulk feeders; needed a little tweaking to work well. THe benefit of screws: rebuilt it about 3 times. LOL Moved the marans to the middle section, which is the finished section. DH cut the large door on the first pen. I get to do doors and roosts and bulk feeders tomorrow . I'm not nearly as fast as DH making things. I'm pushing to get these chicks out of the house.

I went to Jackson today to get goat feed, and do some shopping. I am exhausted! Rarely do I get so tired I just can't do anything. I had to have a nap this afternoon, and it worked out ok since it was raining anyway. Just went out to feed the goats since it finally quit raining. What do I find in the middle of the aisle? Right, MORE baby goats! Another boy and girl pair, this time Jillian is the Ma. Took me a while to figure it out in the feeding frenzy, while trying to rescue kids out from under hooves of goats bent on eating. Still feeding little Slim, the one triplet that did not have horns of the trio. He is doing a little better. And yes, it is good to have Jack gone, and I bet my feed bill will be lower too.
Hoping to have some decent weather and get some building done soon.

Goats goats goats,I to got way to pooped out today,it sucks trying to get over the flu. I went and got some hay bales today and cleaned out some huge cardboard pieces that i was never going to use and a pile of feed sacks and burned them.Fed the animals ploped in my chair and watched tv all night.

I just heard a baby chick peeping in the back room .They are due tomorrow.Their is always a early bird.

Rats, I typed a post and it kept getting not posted due to a problem with a server, then it got lost:-( Built another feeder today, and a frame for one side of a run, painted 2x4s, and fed Slim. I just went to the barn to feed him and he was outside! Not good, so I took him back in the garage. He was glad to see his rooster buddy. Tomorrow I need to get more wood and chicken feed. Posted a couple auctions, lots more to do but computer not cooperating. Maybe tomorrow .

Coach-- how many new peeps?? Pics?

Hot2Pot-- another busy day for you. How annoying when posts won't post. How are the auctions going? Must be picking up. Which birds are the most popular?

I have asked Dh to help me get the breeding pens done and 2 other coops over the weekend. I'm really really really tired of being greeted by chicks in the hallway and the kitchen. I finished another nesting box; need to make a bulk feeder tomorrow. The first bulk feeder is with the marans. Not sure why so much of the feed is getting on the floor. THought this was the answer to spilled grain on the coop floor. It is the answer to daily feeding though. Holds a few days of feed. Had another lamb born today. Late morning I heard a BAAAAAA , that new born BAAAA. I ran to the barn, and he was on his feeet looking for food. This will be a big project. He is a very large, tall lamb and the ewe's udder is the size of a soccer ball and hangs very low. He can't find the milk. Just as the other lamb is getting the hang of getting up on its feet and nursing, now another that needs attention. For now milk and bottle feed. Need another pritchard's teat--this one is slowly failing. On another note: thought DH and I had trapped all the mice in the house. This has been an ongoing battle for a year. Last night, caught the one in the kitchen that DS saw run across the floor yesterday. THen I hear the running feet in the overhead ceiling of the kitchen. Maybe it's the last one.

I never got to town to buy feed so I will have to go in the morning.Don't want to run out on the long weekend. I was busy working in the pastures cleaning up dead brush and leaves, and burning. And as crazy as it might seem for February, I decided to plant some grass seed and cover it with manure. It has been so mild, I figure maybe it will grow. So I burned two piles, then had to get busy washing eggs as I had orders for 5 dozen eating eggs. Tonight I started two auctions on Ebay, need to post a couple more on here. Took a couple of pics of the kids outside today...

Thanks for the reminder of the 3 day weekend. Some feed stores may be closed on Monday. Need a few bags of chick feed myself.

WOW. Pretty kids! Love the creme coloring. Combined with the white theyare very unusual. THe blk/tan is pretty, too.

Good luck on the auctions. The eggs must be selling well . What do you use to clean your eating eggs??

I use dishwashing liquid, and a scrubber for eating eggs. I can never keep enough eggs in the fridge. The good part is, people call ahead so I get a chance to get them ready . People buy up to 6 dozen at a time.
I am happy to have some variety with the kids, thought they were all going to look like daddy.
