Today I had two guys show up and buy two dozen hatching eggs. Then a lady came and bought several young chickens. Now if i just sell 100 more, it might make a dent... I managed to get outside and build a bantam duplex today. Got the frame done and the wire on the bottom. Built the frames for the doors as well.
My neighbor called as I was getting ready to get into the tub this morning, her dog had been bitten by a snake. However, she could not get into the shed to see what kind it was so she just had me drive them to the vet. The vet shaved the area, then decided to keep the dog for observation. You could clearly see the puncture marks, and it was bleeding. Hope he will be OK.
I am pretty much drowning in eggs, guess I will have to try Ebay again. I just have chicks everywhere, incubator full and the girls are laying.

This morning I was sound asleep, and the doorbell rang. My neighbor informed me, "There is a horse in your yard!" The horse that lives in the pasture across the road had gotten out. Of course, he has no halter so I couldn't hold him that way. I decided to try the feed in the bucket ploy. Worked perfectly, then I did a temporary fix to the fence where he escaped.
Then I packed eggs and my neighbor went with me to town. Got more chick starter feed and picked up her dog at the vet. He seems to be recovering from the snake bite well.
Tomorrow we go to Jackson, I think it is going to rain

.

Well it never did rain, and it has been quite warm. Looked at chicks in two places but resisted buying any. Bought lots of groceries, a box of bullets, and Easter candy for dh. Plus a few plants and seeds for the garden. Blew the budget I am sure.
I went over and saw the baby bunnies my neighbor has. Mini lop x English lop. Five of the cute little buggers. Now have their eyes open and running around. She had never had a rabbit when I met her, so I bought her one and built a hutch. The father rabbit has such long ears that they drag on the ground!

Glad your neighbors dog is well enough to go home!

I seem to have eggs everywhere, again. I ate eggs for two meals today. Made a cake for the kids afterschool snack, used up 3 eggs, a few more that the recipe calls for! ANd I cook and feed a few to the breeder birds to boost their protein.

I am waiting for marans and ee/ameracuana to hatch--the first hatch of the season. Always nerve wracking!

I am glad lambing is over and done. My old ewe seems to be picking up production of milk, when I brought the lambs a bottle they ran to me jumped up and then refused the bottle. Not hungry. WIll keep up the visits as I want these two as replacements. Their mom is very old and these may be her last. So JIC I'll keep these two lambs. One black. One white. Milk and Cookies.

Tomorrow is the goat sale, unless they aren't having it due to the holiday, I will have to call. I have two does and four kids to take, so I should use less feed after that.
Today I did laundry, cleaned up, boiled eggs, moved chickens and fed critters . Sold 4 dozen eating eggs, barely made a dent. Put two trays of 48 eggs in the Bator. Those chicks need to get out of the fish tanks and into the bigger brooder. Had to clean it out again , they make an awful mess. My ducklings are growing like weeds. It sprinkled quite a bit today, but we missed the thunderstorms. Good, I want my garden to dry out so I can till it.

The goat sale was held tonight I just dropped off the goats and went to buy feed. DH says I use a lot of feed... No kidding! Hope I got a decent price for the goats, but afraid not. After I bought feed I burned piles of leaves in the garden. DH says he will mow tomorrow so the neighbor can till. Pulled a lot of weeds up. Then I worked on the bantam duplex, got the wire on the sides, the latches are on, and the perches are installed. I moved one pair in and they each managed to escape while I was putting stuff in for them. Started building a feeder, but had to go feed the animals. got a couple calls about chickens so I hope to sell some this weekend. Chicks hatching again!:)

Coop number 2 is half done. I think your goats will do good.I went to a poultry sale with 2 friends and stopped by my 80 year old chicken buddy and took some of his bantams to the sale too.Early in the sale the bantams where selling cheap. So i was thinking oh crap mine are going to be real cheap, but the auctionneer told the people about John being a old poultry judge and had these birds for many years and they sold for a fortune and mine did real good to.I did pretty good and only came home with 2 dozen hatching eggs and a young pair of wheaten shamo.

Tried to post last night but it would not go. Good job on the coop, Coach. I built a nest box and started a feeder for the Jap bantams. Garden is cut up, fence is done so I need to start planting. Sold 9 chickens yesterday and three hatched. Chicken math again!:-D

Today I spent way too much time looking for my glasses. Finally DH found them in the laundry! Sold five Buff Orps today, another new chicken owner:) Shoveled chicken poop, got a wagon full(my wagon is big) and by then my back was hurting so I laid around with a hot pack on. Lost a hen to a fox I think, neighbor saw it during the day. Maybe it is feeding babies, but I was pretty upset. May have to start carrying my gun again.
