I ordered 10 FBC maran eggs from ebay. 14 arrived & 1 was cracked. I waxed it & set it with the other 13.
on day 8 I candled and tossed 1 obvious scrambled egg. But I suspected 3 others were non starters.
Today I candled again & had to pull 5 eggs out
The one I waxed was clear - along with 3 others & 1 blood ring.
That said - the 8 remaining eggs I saw feet, & movement & large veins!
So - I know I have 8 growing - not bad so far - but not as good as I had hoped. Shipped eggs are so hard to hatch with any real success.
Technically - 5 of the 6 I have not set don't count toward my hatch rate since they were clear or cracked from the start. So thats 1 loss in 9 so far.
I guess I should be happy if 4 hatch - but I wont be. I want all 8
