Only joined after my coop burnt :(

So sorry for your loss.

The sad part is that I can't see my coop from my house but you can see it from the road and I can't believe no one called the fire department or even came to the door when someone saw the burning coop :( - someone was bond to see it

Aw hun, don't do that to yourself... :(

It's very likely nobody saw it if you woke up to it like that, being early morning hours when few are up. It also could have happened so fast that it missed being seen...

If it were me, I'd clean up the spot, delete these pictures out of my phone, have a good cry, and not torture myself with the "what ifs" and "if onlys"... Sorry if that seems too forward...:(

Every time I hear/read about a burned down coop, brooder or fricasseed chickens 99% of the time a heat lamp is the culprit. I am really surprised they still sell the things. I almost lost my chicks (and my garage!) last spring because one sagged into the brooder bin. They really should be banned.

It must be just devastating for you. I'm so sorry that happened. Thank you for those pictures. You are helping many people learn from your experience.

I had my chicks in the basement with a heat lamp and I looked at it and it was hanging with a cord -- a string, really. I went right out and bought a chain to hang it from. After reading all of this I definitely will research other warming methods.

Aaaw Chattychick I am so very sorry to read this and can only imagine how devastating it is for you and your children.

As pnwoldie mentioned, you will hopefully be helping others by sharing your loss and thank you for doing that
