I have a flock of thirty birds (now 29 and within a few hours possibly 28) but yesterday a chick got canker and died, and now another one has it and is not really moving, I have dealt with canker and wet fowl pox and I’m sure it’s canker. The thing is, is that only the new chickens I got like a month ago are getting sick, I think the lady was feeding them layer feed and not chick feed, so that could be why, but my others the same age and my adults are fine, along with my 6 young guineas. All of my chickens and guineas got coccidiosis a few weeks before we got the new ones. Last year my adults survived fowl pox too. I wonder if my medicated birds are just healthier than the new ones or it’s something else. Also are there any at home remedies for canker.

Can you get some clear photos of the inside of the beak?

How old are the chicks?

Is there a bad odor?

What do you feed, including treats?

Feeding layer feed would not have caused Canker. Canker (Trichomoniasis) is caused by a Protozoa.

Canker is contagious and birds are carriers for life.

Treatment is with Metronidazole. Some cull birds if there's a large outbreak, this is one way to control the spread.
Once you have it under control, you treat all birds with Acidified Copper Sulfate in the drinking water for 3 days each month to help control outbreaks, it's not a cure, but a possible way to keep it under control.

I feed all flock, corn as treats, and burmuda grass as treats, along with the occasional table scraps

It’s not super bad odor bug it smells like a dogs breath, I can’t get clear photos because they are super squirmy, and they are around 10 weeks

Did the others improve or did they die?

If this is Canker, apple cider vinegar and hydro hen would not have treated it. Could they have had food stuck inside the beak?
Only 3 out of the 9 new ones were acting off in the first place, and it started after two straight days of rain, 2 died and one is still alive
