Only one baby

We incubated some eggs and only one egg hatched.....poor baby. Do you think it will be okay or should I try to find it a buddy? Is there anyone close to upstate SC that has some babies? They are so darn cute!!

Is this a coturnix or a button quail or what?

If it's a button quail you could find it a buddy (find out if its a boy or girl first would be your best bet) if it's a coturnix and you have room for a ton of buddies for it, just get some more eggies and be it's buddy in teh mean time it'll be a much friendlier (person wise) bird for it

And will still take to it's friends. If you dont have time to snuggle with it though your ears would be happy if you found it a buddy. As it will start crying being alone

lol Even a chicken chick could be a good friend for it while you wait to find some more coturnix chicks.

It is a Bob White Quail. It is 2 weeks old. I will have some baby chicks in two more weeks. I just thought if someone was close by maybe I could get him a buddy. It makes me sad......she isn't complaining too much. they are so darn cute!!

Tink Do You Have Any Other Baby Birds In Brooders? I Break My "dont Mix Gamebirds And Chickens Rule" For Single Quails (pheasants Stay Single) I Have Good Luck With This For My Bob White Speces--- Just Have To Be Careful The Lil Fellars Dont Get Stepped On By Bigger Chicken Babies--- Thats Mostly A Coturnix Concern As The Lil Bobs Are Usually Very Mobile And Can Run Figure 8's Around Baby Chicken's Feet While They Are Walking And Never Get Stepped On!

But If It Doesnt Seem To Mind Being Alone, And You Have Another Batch Coming In 2 Weeks You May Be Better Off Leaving It Alone (if It Aint Broke.....)

In My Experience With Bob Speces Is That They Do Fine By Themselves.

i raised a single coturnix chick in a ten gallon aquarium and he did fine. i would leave it single until your other batch of quail is adult size and you cant tell the difference between the two. in about 6-7 weeks you can put them together
