As luck would have it I hatched only 1 baby runner. 2 started to pip then quit. Now I'm paranoid about the rest of the eggs that will hatch next week. do I help the babies when I don't see any progression after a few hours or wait? Plus I have more hatching for the Easter hatch.

What day are they on?? What's your settings at temp and humidity what kind of bator air or still??

it's an old strofoam incubator has a fan holds the temp at 99.5 to 100. Humidity is around 70 percent.
I did have another hatch yesterday helped it hatch. wasn't going to lose it. It's happy running around the bator. will put it with the other one when I get home. At least they will keep each other company. More eggs should be hatching this weekend.

You pretty much never want to help, because you can kill them by "helping" to early and if you help at the right time then they will probably die anyway if they were to weak to get out. Darwanism might seem cruel, but it still is accurate to a degree.

I would be lowering that humidity keep it at about 60-65.

Not true, I can tell you I've helped TONS OUT, you have to do it properly and look for things that you probably would never really look for, have supplies prepared etc..

How much experience did you have and how many died? I advise against it because if not done properly you can hurt more than help.

LOL, I"ll tell you what, I can do one STEP better then that, Here's a list of BYCer's that I have in one way shape or another have helped them get a duck out safely..

Animal Quacker - boy she had a crazy messy hatching.

Miss Lyndia - she calls me the "doc", LOL

peachncm37 - This girl is CONSTANTLY challenging me.

clousert - This girl is going to be in TIME out, if she doesn't start listening.. LOL

Plus my own, and that's just a FEW. RIght now I'm working a on TRICKY one.

Perhaps you can follow along! I'm no expert but I can see things that some may not which seems to help. Yes, you lose some but the goal is to try and gain more then you lose. It's NEVER a fast process, it's something that you need to have patiences, time and sleepless nights.

Very nerve racking and intense because ONE mess up. BOOM it's over.. but when that doesn't happen OMG, what a joy....

I have a swedish duckling that decided to come early..pipped with blood I left it alone then it freed its head and wings stayed that way for 3 days I kept it damp applied triple anitbiotic cream to the yolk sac and membrane..the third day it was draggin the shell behind it so I detached it ,yolk was asorbed membrane was dried to it so I washed it up a bit and put it back in to dry. . They were shipped eggs its hatch mate need help it pipped right in the center got its beak out crying for 8 hrs..this was 2 days after the first. It was very malpositioned ...I had 4 eggs go into lockdown one had quit probably the last week one was completely upside down and must have drowned. I always to eggtopsey to figure out what I could do different if anything...
