I currently have at least five roosters in my coop right now. One is my leading man, Floppy. The others were accidental roos-cockerels about 17 weeks old who were sold to me as confirmed pullets...but let's not go there. Anyway, only Floppy crows. Is this normal? In a week or two, I will be separating them-the younger ones will go in a new run & coop and Floppy will again be the only roo. Will the new boys start crowing then?

It really doesn't matter too much. All extra roos go to the freezer. I was just curious.

Having a dominant rooster around hasn't slowed any of my youngsters too much. They just keep an eye on the old man while practicing.

Yeah, when I started out my head rooster was the only one who crowed, and the only one who mated the girls. A few days after he was gone I heard my cochin roo (same age as the other) crow for the first time.
