hello everyone!

I posted a bunch here last season when we got our geese. We had ended up with 4 females and 1 gander. Well the gander got extremely mean when his ladies started laying. He attacked my 3 year old one day out of the blue and really hurt him so we rehomed them all the next day to a really good home. I just couldn’t keep them after he attacked my son and they were all bonded so I couldn’t just keep my 2 favorites.

Anyway, we took 4 of their eggs and stuck them in the incubator the day they left. 2 were not fertile. So they got removed. 2 were growing. Along the way one of those died leaving one.

I’m currently out of town with part of our family and my teenager called to say the goose is actually hatching. It’s almost out. Having one and no means to get anything else currently how hard will it be to raise it up alone? I know people say never raise a Lone animal but circumstances became difficult here so no mean comments.

I was so heart broken to see my geese had to be rehomed but my little boy came first.

Thanks everyone.

Sorry, but raising a solo gosling is not good. The best thing you can do is list him right away and hope that someone who has other goslings will pick him up quickly.

Thanks but that’s not an option as I’m out of town and won’t be back home for days. I honestly didn’t think it would hatch.

A warm brooder a stuffed animal and a-mirror will keep it company till you get home and decide what’s best for the little one. But raising a lone gosling is real dedication and since flock animals really do best with other goslings to grow up with.

Thanks!
When we gave them to a new home, we had to pull the one off her 4 eggs. As a mama I couldn’t just pitch them so that’s why they went into the incubator. I’m so surprised it’s hatching and sad I’m missing it. I have no idea what it is but we had a pilgrim/cotton patch gander and our females were embdens, cotton patch and cotton patch/pilgrim so it’s gonna be some sort of combination!

Yes. My oldest daughter. She raised our last girls by carrying them around in hats. So I can see her cuddling it in the winter hat lol
