I have 6 hens. All standard except my one silkie. My silkie has gone broody twice and none of the other hens havent even once. There 1 year old. I know I shouldnt complain as broody hens give the worst attitude but was wondering why.

Not all hens go broody. It depends both on the individual and the breed. Silkies are very prone to becoming broody, but breeds like Rhode Island Reds and Leghorns are not.
I have the following breeds. silkie, 2 Plymouth, Buff O, Starlight green agger, and Australorp.

Plymouth Rocks can go broody, but it's not too common.
Starlight Green Eggers generally don't go broody too often.
Orps and Australorps do often go broody, but not as much as silkies. This comes down to the individual. Age might also have something to do with it. How old are your girls?

It's just something that happens. Sometimes you'll see breeds that aint supposed to do it often. Other times you'll see the breeds that are supposed to that never do it.

I'd rather a momma bird do the hard work but if you are wanting to hatch, it might be better to shop for incubators.

Nooo, we dont want babies. Just thought that they were supposed to go broody and have been preparing to break them. lol

All my Orps used to go broody, over and over again. Now I have Leghorns, Easter Eggers, and Australorps. Not a broody in the bunch. Hallelujah.
