only one hatched..should i get it a friend?

So my 4h leader hatched 1 egg out of 7 that BYCer Tandersphoenix sent. Its at her house right now, but she wants to be rid of it soon. Seeing as there is just one, should i get him/her a friend at the feed store? Or just a fluffy toy or a mirror?

I would get it a buddy. A mirror can work as temporary thing while you run out to buy the friend!

Yes, definitely! I had this happen with Penguin and was too stupid to get her a friend, so she imprinted on me and kept us all up all night peeping, until she was grown up. I would literally have to knot her into two towels and turn out the heat lamp to keep her asleep. For a long time after going into the coop she was a social reject among the chickens, and even at three years old she still gets along better with me than with them. Which is nice now, but for the first year it was miserable. If you want a socially well-adjusted chicken (and to sleep at night) get her a buddy asap!

I unknowingly had an incubated chick imprint on me and I ended up letting it sleep with me so I could get some sleep. Dog, cat, chick? Is there really a difference?

Oooh so i should get her/him (it better be a her, but i'll get a girl buddy just in case) a friend?
Now, next question: its a bantam phoenix. What breeds would work best in there? A bantam (cochin, silkie) or a standard (red star, polish)

I have silkies, one rooster and 2 hens, and totally LOVE them. The rooster is leash trained and when I'm rounding them up to put away at night one of the hens will actually "sit" upon command. Weird but true.

Haha. The friend will be sold after it is old enough, and then we will try again to get bantam phoenixes. My mom and Dad are already super mad about the 20 chickens i do have.
