I bought some eggs, they were shipped and many arrived damaged. I set as many as I thought were undamaged and crossed my fingers. So, on day 19 (was about to toss them all), ONE chick hatched. He's 24 hours old now and seems to be fine, other than peeping incessantly.
I am not sure what color he is though - first I thought it was a brown, but it did come from a red-based color flock (with tuxs). I think he might be a heavily marked tux. It's mostly real dark (almost black) with yellow 'eyebrows' , yellow underside, yellow tipped beak (very little) and dark feet except for the middle toes are white(pink).
Raising one chick is going to be a PIA, so I really hope it's a red tux and I really hope it's a rooster!
My present flock consists of 11 hens (9 brown, one golden, one white) and 2 roosters (one brown, one golden). I really hope I'll be able to integrate this one into the flock in a few weeks (they are in a large 8'x8' pen.)
