I have three hens but one just started laying. They are all the same age but it's still early. Only about 20 weeks old. Do I switch to layer feed now or continue to feed grower until the others start laying also?

Since there is no magic in layer feed, you may choose just to feed the remaining portion of your current feed. Layer is merely a 16-20% protein type feed with calcium added for stronger egg shells. A calcium supply, offered on the side, essentially accomplishes the same thing. Many folks here never feed layer, feeding a good grower or Raiser type product.

That said, I do feed layer and since your birds are all at the 20 week mark, there'd be no problem in doing so. The choice is entirely yours. Enjoy you new layer(s).
