Oocyan test (blue egg gene)

Hi I'm looking for a laboratory that test Oocyan (blue egg gene) in chickens through feather our blood. I found one in Miami but one in Canada would be better (since I'm from Brazil and have relatives living there). Thank you and God bless

Thank you. I thought that this test was only rare here in Brazil but it seams that it is unusual outside too.

I found another place that does the testing, but it is in South Africa (so my apologies that this information may not be useful for you, but in case someone else reads this thread.) There is a company called ZooOmics. I didn't find the test on their website, but I emailed them and they confirmed that they had the Oocyan test available.

This is what the email said:

Thank you for contacting ZooOmics™.

We do offer Blue egg test at R287.15 including VAT per test.

I have attached the following documents for your convenience:

1. Our submission form which is to be filled in and submitted with your sample or emailed back to us.
2. A sample guide should you need it.

Please note for Chicken submissions we accept either plucked tail feathers in paper envelopes or an FTA card (which we can supply @R37.00 per kit, and the sample can be taken at home.)

We can provide a courier service that can collect at your home or at the vet at a cost of R116.89. When the sample are ready for collection, an email with the collection address and contact details can be sent to [email protected] and we will arrange the courier. Alternatively, you may make use of your own courier or hand-deliver the samples to our offices at 525 Justice Mahomed Street, Muckleneuk, Pretoria.

Once samples have been received by the laboratory and the order confirmed, an e-mail will be sent to you with a quotation for the work proposed, a reference number, as well as our banking details.

Results will be made available within 7-14 working days from receipt of samples.

Please note that results are only released subject to receipt of payment.
