I stepped on a bee earlier today. It was no big deal, it's been a while since I've been stung by a bee, but I've never had any problem with stings, other than the pain

I was stung on the bottom of my foot, right near where my 2nd toe (next to the big one) is joined to the rest of my foot.

MY WHOLE FOOT IS SWOLLEN!!

It started out as being real itchy, and felt weird around my toes (where I got stung, but on top). It progressed to the top of my foot, being red, hot, swollen, and itchy.

It has now moved up my leg, at least the hot and itchy part of it. I don't think my shin is swollen, but it is hot and very itchy!!

What can I do for it? I don't have any epsom salt, or I'd be soaking it, and our vehicle is broke down right now, so I can't even go to the store and get some.

When did this happen? Did you take any Benadryl? If not take some asap.

Benadryl and ice it.
If you have any breathing difficulty, get someone to take you to a hospital ASAP.

Benedryl and fast please (any antihistamine will do if you got generic tablets instead).

I didn't do benadryl, I took an ibuprofen cause I figured it would swell some. It swelled a lot more than some!!

This happened probably 3-4 hours ago. But the top of my foot is hurting really bad!! I can't even hardly walk on it now, since I've finally sat down.

I'll get some ice and see if I have any benadryl.

Benedryl stops the reaction. If you don't have any, find some neighbors who do. This is not a normal reaction to a bee sting. Please be careful.

Watch your breathing and heartrate.

I wouldn't elevate the foot, either.

So, stupid question, do I put the ice on the top of my foot, where it is swollen at, or on the bottom where the original sting was?

Got the benadryl, btw, took 2

Ice where it hurts, and shift as needed. It helps by constricting blood vessels so the toxin moves slower.

does anyone in your family smoke, if they do take some tobacco, wet it good and stick it on the bee sting. I am allergy to any kind of bee, wasp, yellow jacket or things like that, so I keep a pouch of chewing tobacco on top of my fridge so if I get stung I can grab it real fast. wet it real good and tie it in place. than go to the hospital. marrie soak in regular salt water to, it sometimes works as good as epson salts.

I had bad reactions to ground bee stings twice last year. The swelling was incredible. The second time, I was stung on the calf, just below the knee. Within two days, the swelling had gone down to my foot. I had cankles! I thought if my leg swelled any larger, the skin would split. The doctor wasn't impressed, and hardly batted an eye over the swelling. Antihistimines worked fairly quickly.
