My first time. I have a broody Maran, and I got fertilized eggs from a farmer. He said not to move her. I wanted to separate her from the rest. But I didn't.. Now it is the 3rd day, and she obviously went to the wrong clutch of eggs. When I got home the eggs were cold (its 66 degrees out). I did move her, so she can't make that mistake again. But, being the 3rd day into it, what are the chances of any being alive?? Probably it was 4-8 hours that they were unprotected. I should have gone with my gut feeling and put her in her own private suite. Then I read an article from Mother Earth News, saying I could have moved her before placing the eggs, and test it out that she would stay, with some fake eggs. (or other eggs). Then if all was well, place the eggs.
