Well I had a pretty bad hatch and only 2 made it to the brooder. One looked really bad and despite my best efforts he died Saturday night. All night Sat and all day Sun I heard cheep cheep cheep. I gave the chick a mirror and a rolled up towl but it didn't work to keep him quiet long and he kept pushing the mirror over. So natrually I had to go get a few more chicks to keep him company
. This morning I called all over but most places were out of chicks because of Easter and they weren't expecting more till Thursday or Friday, luckly one of the feed stores I go to had some still. All they had was a hatchery choice of pullets so they didn't know what kinds they were. They had ideas on most of them but didn't know for some. I was only going to get one, really, but two managed to jump in the box and a third was close to following but my mom put a stop to it
(well actually it was what my dad would say when we got home that kept the third out). So I got a Silver Laced Wyondotte and a mystery chick. Here are some pics of my new additons, anyone know what the mystery chick is? The store orders from Privett Hatchery.
This is the Wyondotte
Here is the chick I hatched, it is a turkin/gold sexlink. I don't know if anyone has a guess but would you say pullet or cockeral? It is a week old today.
And here is mystery chick, she has a single comb and pinkish legs
And all together
