I thought you were the same age ? (based on the wording in your first post - certainly not past high school)

I'm glad the majority of people who responded to this post think the same way. Compassion is compassion. When my daughter was old enough to talk, she was fishing drowning earth worms out of mudpuddles, and carrying endangered houseflies outside. Age has nothing to do with it. A better comment might have been "whoops, I just made a stupid comment, I'm sorry if I offended anyone". We know you didn't mean to offend anyone. Enough attacks.

Just one more thought for your consideration. At 14, I certainly wouldn't expect you to have thought of this. I didn't at first either. Anytime we hit a living being, whether by accident or through carelessness, there's always the possibility that we hit a mom who left behind defenseless young babies that will also die/starve as a result. Anytime I see an animal that's been hit I think of that. I think of the possibility that babies are wondering where their mom is, as they slowly get weaker without her care and the food she would bring. A certain percentage of the animals you see hit on the road have left behind defenseless babies that will also die as a result of their mom getting killed. I am always sad when I see an animal that's been hit, for this reason and because the dead animal will never get to spend another day in the sun.

First of all, we didn't hit it, it hit us, second, it was a jake, If there were poults she most likely wouldn't have flown across the road without taking her babies.
I am also sorry to all that I have offended.
