OP question follow up encouragement idea suggestion

Myself I don't care about trophies. Being new I don't give opinions on sick or hurt chickens. I read what is recommended, found that many thank for the help and some update.
I have learned so much, just reading what the more experienced one recommend. Even getting better at telling pullets from cockerels.
I have asked for advice (integrating, coop). I always updated and thanked everyone for their help.

I turn to old threads constantly looking for solutions to issues and most of the time the thread was never updated. This leaves a person hanging. I think it's human nature to assume you are "the only one that could possibly be experiencing something so no one will go looking at my thread" sort of thing. Au contraire, we are NEVER the only one. (Sometimes I feel like adding the solution myself if I have experienced a very similar situation , but the thread is so old I don't want to resurrect it.)

How about an enhanced "like" system, one where you could choose a different type of rating for a post? Funny posts could get a funny rating, informative posts an informative rating, etc. I have no idea if something like that is compatible with the BYC software, but I like the idea. Just today I read a really good post by someone and it would have been nice to give it an informative rating, not just a like.

I think it can be set up to allow positive, neutral, or negative ratings, all of which are customizable, though I might be wrong . Given the culture here at BYC, the negative and neutral ones might offend people though.
