Open Air Design

I am considering building this chicken coop design that I found on craigslist. I would make the run much bigger, and my chickens will be able to free range most of the time anyways. I live in the central coast of California (zone 9b, if that helps). It does not normally freeze where we live. I've been reading about how ventilation is good and chicken can do well in open coops. But is this too open? What do you think?

IMO, an open air design would be best by far for where you live. Even in our northern states, chickens can get overheated in summer, and require good breeze and shade. Here is a thread with a bunch of ideas:
