I came across this video and thought I'd share it in case it is useful to anyone else. I am now resolved to increase the ventilation in my coop and not cover over the window for winter as I had planned.
I watched this video a couple weeks ago. Shows how hardy chickens really are. Choose the right breed for your area (hot/cold) and allow them to be chickens. Lol
I have an open style coop, so far this winter I’ve seen temps as low as the mid twenties. I’ve had a very small amount of snow - not sure if I can actually call it that, mostly frost in the mornings. This is my first winter with my chickens so it’s definitely been a learning experience with ups and downs, but so far, they’ve done really well with the weather. Here’s a pic of my coop, and good luck with adding more ventilation.
I've seen that video too. Definitely makes me understand more of what a chicken *needs* to survive. Now getting my mind on board with them not needing a heater and complete cushy coop has been the more difficult part. Hahaha
