We have a covered chicken coop/run with a dog kennel attached for extra space. The covered run has a mixture of grass clippings, pine shavings and whatever else I can throw in there. I mix it around occasionally and add sweetEZ and no issues. The open run area is grass. My girls are in the enclosure until I am home in the evening then they free range for a few hours. The grassy area is starting to smell. I know its from the girls pooping but how can I keep the grass and still keep the smell down? So far the area is big enough that they haven't destroyed all of the grass by grazing and I would like to keep it that way. Other wise i'll have to throw down hay and pine shavings to keep the smell down and have one big area of pine shavings? What to do?
