open wound on our chickens toe

Our chicken has an open wound on the bottom of her toe. Its is a circle and dark on the edges. It also appears there is a bone sticking out of the wound. It is swollen on the joint of the toe. She walks with a slight limp and when she perches she bends it so it doesn't touch the perch. We don't know what it is or what to do.

sounds like an injury,you should soak it to get it clean, may have some dead tissue there, apply antibiotic ointment and warp it if possible. is it in the center of the foot, could it be bumble foot? look that up in the search for pics

Have you been able to wash it with warm water and a mild anti-bacterial soap? Then you could get a closer look at it
