Got a hen with an open wound. What should I do? I know how to treat a wound on a large animal but not on a bird. Should I trim the dead skin off and open the area on up or leave it and let the wound heal. Should I put an ointment on the wound

How large of a wound?
Separate her and clean/flush the with saline, Betadine or Chlorhexidine. Let dry a bit, then you can apply some plain Neosporin or Vetericyn spray. If the wound is large, the spray usually works better. Watch for signs of infection - pus and odors.

As far as trimming the skin, it will most likely fall off on it's own. Depends on what it looks like.

Make sure she is staying hydrated and eating well.
