I have a young barred that has cut herself about 2" long down the back of her head. I have isolated and treated for one week. It was all healing nicely when I tried to put her back in the coop. Within hours the other "girls" had reopened the wound and the injured chicken was freaking out.
She is out of the coop again, and now looks like I am starting from scratch.
I was not treating it right (using hydrogen peroxide and "rooster booster" a wound paste to minimize canibalism.
.... but, will they ever let her back in the flock??????
